Barcelona president makes huge Antoine Griezmann revelation: FIFA sanctions to follow?

BARCELONA president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that he held talks with Antoine Griezmann’s agent last year.

Atletico Madrid star Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp this summer.

He was even reportedly spotted looking at houses in the city after Atletico’s La Liga clash Barca.

The France international has been in spectacular form once again this season.

Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on the striker who has netted 27 times this campaign.

Atletico complained to FIFA over an alleged illegal approach from Barca for Griezmann in December.

And Bartomeu has now confirmed that he spoke with his agent as early as October last year.

“We met with his agent, yes”

But the Barca supremo insists that his relationship with Atletico remains strong.

"I saw Griezmann one day on holiday. We met with his agent, yes. It was in October," he told RAC 1.

"We talk with [Atletico president Enrique] Cerezo about many topics. We have a good relationship with them."

Griezmann has a £88m release clause in his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano.

He added: "It's not the moment to talk about these matters. You cannot talk about players who play at other clubs."

Barcelona moved within three games of going the entire La Liga season undefeated after a 2-2 draw with rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico last Sunday.
