What Samuel Umtiti did to make journalist furious during Barcelona’s open-top bus parade
Barcelona celebrated their domestic double with an open-top bus parade on Monday evening.
The bus carrying the players and staff started at the city waterfront’s World Trade Center and finished up at the Plaza del Doctor Ignasi Barraquer.
Along the way, thousands of jubilant Barça fans lined the streets to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
The Catalan giants wrapped up the Spanish league title with a 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday evening.
A week earlier they won the Copa del Rey, hammering Sevilla 5-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Barcelona’s open-top bus parades have got a little out of hand in the past. Back in 2015, Xavi famously shoved Neymar in the face (watch the video of that incident HERE) after the Brazilian attempted to take the Spanish midfi
elder’s shoes while he was on the edge of the bus.
“I said that they should stop messing about and concentrate on the people that had come out to wave as the bus passed,” Xavi revealed after the incident. “These parades are for the people after all. It’s okay to have three or four beers but the parade is for the people and it’s the chance for us to thank them for our support. You can’t just do what you want to do.”
SAMUEL UMTITI GOT HIMSELF IN TROUBLE ON MONDAY
If only Xavi was on the bus on Monday night.
Samuel Umtiti managed to get himself in hot water with a journalist after pouring beer on her from the side of the bus.
Helena Condis, working for Cadena COPE, was furious with the defender and told him “I’m going to kill you”.
“He was jumping, dancing and throwing beer over the bus,” she added, per Catalan daily Sport. “I made the gesture at him of ******** his throat.” Wow. Watch the incident here…
